About Jembush and how it all started....  

Jembush is inspired by my first beautiful Border Collie, Jemma, whose pictures you see on this page. When I went to see the last few in a litter of collie pups, it was Jemma who chose me, by constantly climbing onto my lap no matter how many times I put her off. She had decided she was coming home with me and was not about to take no for an answer.

In the 14 and a half years that she graced this planet and lovingly and selflessly shared her life with me, Jemma led me into exploring the world of natural healing through homoeopathy, natural nutrition, chiropractic, essences, reiki and then into the more private world of the dogs mind, by teaching me about animal communication. Jemma had eyes only for me and wanted nothing more from life than to be with me 24/7, which is very humbling when I consider all she gave me in those too short years.

In competitive obedience she took me from humble beginnings of knowing nothing in beginner classes to the dizzy heights of competing at championship level against the best dogs in the country, and to competing at Crufts Dog Show in obedience. Although she never gained her well-deserved title of 'Obedience Champion', she was always a true star and champion in my eyes and those of her biggest fans. She gave me the best day of my life on our visit to Crufts with her by my side and those who loved her still speak of that day with pride, having been a part of it with us.

She taught me about unconditional love, took me on wondrous journeys looking at the world through a dog's eyes, helped me to understand about dog's feelings, emotions, thoughts and attitudes. She showed me how to see the fun side of life, to see joy and a game in any situation, how to find joy and fun in a simple uncomplicated way, that love, joy and fun are free and easily found by attitude and perspective, not by money and status or possessions, and that they come from within and not from external sources.

Jemma loved and lived life to the full and her passing left me bereft and heartbroken, but still learning.     Her legacy lives on through Jembush, so I can pass on her teachings and help pets and their humans everywhere to live in happiness and harmony. The seeds she sowed encouraged me to learn more and expand my knowledge and skills so I could help others and particularly animals, to ease their paths during their time here and to facilitate more inter-species understanding and co-operation.
